Natural Toothpaste
To use toothpaste that is free of chemicals is particularly important as it is a product that goes into your mouth! I particularly don't want to ingest sulphates and the other chemicals that are present and I am sure that you don't wish that for your children?
With the addition of essential oils in your toothpaste is perfect. As well as smelling awesome, they are antibacterial and essential oils such as Myrrh are antifungal. It is important to use essential oils that are safe for internal use such as the the ones suggested.
I would not suggest adding essential oils such as cinnamon bark essential oil (which I have seen in several recipes). So please do consult with a qualified professional aromatherapist before adding any essential oils that are not mentioned in the following recipe!

It is important to use aluminium free baking soda and organic essential oils.
Ingredients:
Note: The tubes, crimper pliers and organic essential oils are all available in the online shop
- About 50g organic coconut oil
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons of aluminium free baking soda
- 10-20 drops of organic spearmint, peppermint or sweet orange essential oils. Can be used alone or a mixture of!
- 1 large drop myrrh essential oil (optional)
- Melt or slightly soften coconut oil.
- Make a paste by mixing the baking soda and coconut oil together - adjust the amount of baking soda to coconut oil depending on personal preference! If using semi-hard coconut oil, use a fork, if not, use a spoon. Add the essential oil/s and mix well.
- Spoon the mixture into white tubes, 15 and 30mm sizes are ideal.
The ones sold at the Aroma Shoppe are made for the food industry which makes them perfect for filling with serums, toothpaste, eye creams etc. - Easy to fill, use the crimper plier to seal the end, label and you have your own toothpaste in a tube
- To use: Use as you would a normal toothpaste. I would use a gentle soft toothbrush as the baking soda is abrasive enough, don’t forget to brush your gums.
